The Lions fall to crosstown rivals!

On Monday 1/14, the Lionville wrestlers hosted their district rivals, Downingtown Middle School. The match pits some of the best wrestlers Downingtown has to offer in a heated dual meet. Lionville put forth some strong efforts, but forfeits and missed weights set them back, and the sacrifice of too many bonus points sealed their fate. In the end, DMS won 63-33, and the Lions learned some valuable lessons. Ryan Loraw (95) and Liam Knott (105) captured pins for LMS, while Frankie Colantuno (110) earned a major decision. Bo Horvath (155) registered a technical fall and Adham “The Beast” Abouraya (210) and “Big” Nate Elam (250) collected forfeits. Now, the Lions must have a short memory and get prepared for their inaugural dual meet tournament at Cocalico HS this coming weekend. Good luck Lionville!

LMS can’t catch a break at Chichester!

For the second straight year, the Lion wrestlers had to journey down close to the Delaware River and compete against Chichester Middle School. Due to injury/illness, both teams had holes and gave up some forfeits, but Chi clawed and kicked a little harder and earned themselves a 53-44 victory over the Lions. Bo Horvath (155) collected the lone pin, while Frankie Colantuno (110) won a decision. Paxson Warnock (85), RJ Fullerton (90), Chris Zimmerman (95), Ryan Loraw (100), and Ryan Shannon (105) all received forfeits. The loss was a lesson in toughness for Lionville as many of the Chi wrestlers fought tooth and nail to earn bonus point wins or fight off their backs. Next week, the Lions have their final slate of dual meets, so good luck to the team and finish strong!

Lionville suffers a rough visit from Patton!

At mid-week, the Patton Middle School Eagles came to LMS for their annual dual meet. They brought a strong team and defeated the Lions 63-27. In the exhibitions, Matt Cogliati (122) throttled his opponent with a clean half-nelson to secure the pin! Congrats to Lionville for wrestling as a team and earning a true team victory! Good luck the rest of this week as more dual  meets loom ahead.
