The official 2025-2026 wrestling season finished this weekend for the Downingtown East Cougars. Our remaining wrestler, Cade McDowell (160) battled hard, but was unable to secure one of the coveted 8 place-finishes allotted on the podium. Cade lost a tough round-of-16 match 13-18 to a Nazareth wrestler that came down to the wire. In his second match, Cade was locked in a scoreless match with a West Mifflin wrestler, but a mad scramble from the bottom position got the best of him and he lost by fall. Congrats to him for making this stage of the game and wearing the blue and gold at the highest level in the most lauded wrestling state. Now is time for reflection and goal-setting. It is easy to see just what this sport takes and what type of work must be put in to ensure improvement. Like many wrestling connoisseurs say, “it is not rocket science.” The ingredients are natural and in plain sight. Wrestlers must study, work, and refine, mostly when their future opponents are not doing those things! This is the only way. Best of luck to all, and see you at the DE Wrestling banquet on 3/16!
