Downingtown East took it’s four remaining competitors to this weekend’s District 1 Regional tournament, once again at Oxford HS. All four sought one of the coveted 5 place-finishes needed to advance to the PIAA State Tournament next weekend. After the dust settled, East reclaimed a spot at states as Cade McDowell (160) finished 3rdand will represent the blue and gold in Hershey! He finished 4-1 on the weekend and will now compete with the state’s best. East’s other competitors fought valiantly. Charlie Dunbar (107) finished 4-3 with a 6th place medal, one shy of qualifying. Seniors Christian Fosmire (2-2 at 114) and Declan McDowell (1-2 at 139) also battled hard and represented their school with great pride, but fell short of the placing rounds. Congrats to all of them for making this stage of the game and putting forth full effort for DE! Now, the focus is on the mats at the GIANT Center, beginning on Thursday.
